In mid-June 2026 the effects of climate change could not be more evident. A burned-over forest now a habitat for an owl family, insects and woodpeckers offered the promise of a return to life. But the retaining ponds had dried out and the lake levels were so low that only one nesting pair of loons took a chance along with just a few ducks and songbirds. Still, it was magical to be there, and I share the images captured.
