Genovesa Island, Galápagos

One landing site on Genovesa Island, Darwin’s Bay, is named after Charles Darwin although he did not visit the island which is a great pity.  It is a most remarkable location for observing seabirds. It is  far north and small compared to the other islands which might explain why it was overlooked but the crew of Darwin’s vessel, the HMS Beagle. The other landing site at Genovesa is the Prince Phillip Steps named after Prince Phillip of England. I was so lucky to visit both areas and enjoy sightings of numerous birds (some with chicks) including Nazca Boobies, Great Frigatebirds, Magnificent Frigatebirds, Red-footed Boobies, Red-billed Tropicbirds, Mockingbirds, Lava herons, Galapagos doves, a short eared owl, and ground finches.
